Project 11/12 Animation and Audio

Shoot 60-90 images of a concept of your own creation. Using Garage Band create the soundtrack for your animation, using loops. Create sound effects and loops:

In this project I took around 70 photos of a boat going down the Hillsborough River using my DSLR camera. I put them all into a timeline in Photoshop and then added audio in Garage Band. I added the song Memories by Petite Biscuit into it as well as audio clips of boats going down a river and someone saying all aboard. Overall the project was entertaining and fun to make.

Art Project

Choose your favorite painted portrait or famous photograph and combine yourselves with this image. The goal is to make the inclusion of yourself seamless:

In this project I again chose a vintage photo and put myself into it. I used photoshop to crop my head into the picture and because the girl is visibly lighter than me I played with the saturation of my original photo to match her skin tone. Over all the project was fun to do.

Morphx

Using the works of Irina Wernin as an inspiration, create one short MorphX animation of yourselves in two separate periods of your life. Recreate a childhood photo now. Use both of these to create your animation:

In this project I used an old baby picture and had it look like it was changing into current day me. Using the timeline in photoshop I put both photos in it and made it play to look as though the photos morphed into each other. Over all it was a quick video that looked like a gif.

Somewhere
Place yourselves in an environment where you have never been. I will be paying close attention to the cutting and cleaning details. Pay close attention to lighting and shadows:

In this project I carefully cut myself out of a picture of me in my living room and placed myself on the red carpet using Photoshop. I made sure the shadows around my feet were in the correct position that the light was coming from. Cutting out the space between my arm was the hardest part but worked out well. Overall, the project was fun to be able to put myself in a place I would never actually be.

Autoscopy

Shoot random images of places or things. Explore layer effects + PS filters on these images. You must submit 10 final edited images. one must be a self portrait:

For this project I used many different images that were special to me. These images include pictures of my cat, images from my trip to Cuba and a self-portrait of me and my favorite musician Demi Lovato. Using many different filters as well as adjusting exposure/saturation I changed each picture to something new and unique. Overall this project was a learning experience and was fun to play around with different features in photoshop.

Poster

Create a poster using your own image inspired by the examples shown in class and your own research using the automatic tracing tools:

For this project I traced a picture of an animation made to look like an old 1950's ad. I used many different shapes to complete the overall animation. I tied together my ability to use the pen tool and eyedropper as well as the gradient mesh to create the poster image. Overall the project was fun and came out nicely.
Gradient Mesh
Choose an image of a fruit or vegetable with a white background from an internet image search. Then convert this object into vector shapes using gradient mesh and other advanced illustration techniques. In this project I recreated a red apple I found on the internet. To start I outlined it and then to match the color I used the eyedropper tool. Using a gradient mesh I more accurately placed the colors on the apple and even added in spots to make it more realistic. Over all the project was a bit tedious but a lot of fun learning how to use new tools.

Logo/Business Cards

Design 3 final versions of your own logo from 5 initial concepts. Design 3 business card designs using your own logos. Designs must be two sided and further reflect the brand you began on Project 3. In this project I made a logo/business card based off my mom’s new freelance business. She is from a town in NJ called Paterson which is famous for its waterfall and bridge within it. In the logos I put a minimalistic waterfall and attempted to recreate the bridge. Overall the project was creative and fun.
Calligram

Create a Calligram in Apollinaire’s way. You do this first by creating a line art illustration. Then you will replace the lines with or fill the shapes with text. In this project I decided to do the outline of a shark because they are my favorite animals. The song I chose is called Shark in the Water is also special since it was used to be in one of my favorite commercials as a kid.  Over all the project was rather simple since we outlined an illustration we liked and added words on line after.
Canvas

Using any text editor, create a landscape or a portrait – it can be totally experimental – using the HTML5 CANVAS. It must contain AT LEAST 10 shapes, including bézier and quadratic curves. In this picture I decided to create a winter wonderland using HTML codes in Canvas. At first it was hard to navigate but by the end of the project I got the hang of it. I made the igloo's arches using Bezier Curves and the snowflakes and sun with many circles.  Even the snow on the ground is an object - a rectangle. Overall it was a fun and interesting project.
